1956 Austin Taxi
The Proud owner of the 1956 Austin hackney Taxi, they stopped making this model in 1958.
This Taxi was saved from a scrap year and fully restore over 4 years period.
I was asked to replace the headlining with a tan or golden headlining, on removing the side panels around the side of the Taxi, it was discovered that the headlining hidden under these panels were the headlining was protected from the elements was in fact originally a white vinyl headlining, the tan/golden colour was from the tar in cigarettes smoke, had over the year had stained the lining a brown colour
As you can see the old headlining has been removed, the new headlining has been made and installed into the Taxi.
Unfortunately there is not any before and after pictures of the seats, but you can see the seats have been reupholstered, which was done as the first part of the Taxi restoration.
